The game will take place in Tabletop Simulator.

The game will be split into at least 3 tables of at least 3 people per table. (If there are 6 or less people playing, an alternate ruleset will be used, see below)

Each table will play rounds of Uno (with the ruleset below) until one person reaches 300 points.

The 300-point scorers then go into a final game to determine the overall placement in a single hand game, with the person finishing with no cards the overall winner, and points deciding the 2nd (lower) and 3rd (higher) place, and 4th place.

How to play

At the start of the round, each player draws a card; player with the highest value card goes first (special cards are ignored and discounted; if everyone draws special the deck should be shuffled and then the pull done again.)

The deck should then be shuffled, each player given 7 cards.

The remaining cards form a draw pile; a card is drawn from the Draw pile to form the Discard pile and is placed faceup. If the top card is Wild or Wild Draw 4, a replacement starter card is drawn.

The highest-card player from setup goes first, play continues clockwise.

Players must play a card of the same colour, number or type (in line with the Card Rules) and get rid of all their cards. You can only play one card at a time.

If you cannot play a matching card, you must draw a card until you CAN play a card, play that card, and then the game continues.

The following cards will be used: the standard original Uno cards; +2, +4, wild, reverse, skip and numbered cards.  Special cards have different effects (see below)

If all the cards in the Draw pile is emptied, the Discard pile should be reshuffled, and play continues.

Special Cards

+2 Card – when this card is played, the next person to play must draw 2 cards ad forfeit their turn.  This card may only be played on a matching colour or on another +2 card. (You cannot play +2 cards on +4 cards and vice versa).  +2 cards carry the number you must draw onto the next player (if 2 in a row are played, the next player must draw  +4, etc.)

Reverse Card – when this card is played, the direction of play is reversed (play to the left now plays to the right, and vice versa).  This card may only be played on a matching colour or on another reverse card.

Skip Card – when this card is played, the next person in line to play loses their turn and is skipped.  This card may only be played on a matching colour or on another reverse card.

Wild Card – when this card is played, you may change the colour being played to any other colour INCLUDING the current colour. You may play a Wild card even if you have another playable card in your hand.

Wild +4 Card – when this card is played, the player must announce the colour it is changing to PLUS the next player must draw 4 cards. For the purpose of the tournament, we will NOT be playing the CHALLENGE rule in the official rules.  +4 cards carry the number you must draw onto the next player (if 2 in a row are played, the next player must draw  +8, etc.)

Calling Uno

When a player is left with two cards in their hand, as they play one of those two cards, they must say UNO before the card is placed on the Discard area.

If they do not say Uno before the card touches the Discard pile, they can be challenged BEFORE the next player plays their card with a call of HALT!

If the CHALLENGE is successful, the player who did not say Uno must draw 4 cards, and play continues.

Winning a Hand

Once a player has played all their cards, they win the hand with 0 points scored.

Other players then tot up their totals as per scoring below, and the points are awarded to the person who won the hand.

Scores per player should be reported in #ft-uno in the following format, so that the admins can keep record: Table number, game number, points from cards. The person who went down and won the hand, should include WIN instead of a point score.

i.e. Reech> Table 1 – Game 1  - 50 points   &   Winner > Table 1 – Game 1 - WIN

The admin will ‘tick’ a score when it’s added to the main sheet, will announce scores, and play will continue on that table.

Scoring

Each card left in the hand is worth the following. In the main ruleset, the points go to the winner of the hand.

Card Type Points Value
Numbered Cards (0-9) Face value (0 counts as ZERO POINTS)
+2 Card 20 points
Reverse Card 20 points
Skip Card 20 points
Wild Card 50 points
Wild +4 Card 50 points

Winning the Table

When one player reaches 300 points, they are the winner of that Table; they will go on to the Final.

Where the score is the same on multiple players achieving over 300, a single game of Sudden Death takes place between those two players, with the winner being the one to play to an empty hand firt.

In the event that on the VERY FIRST HAND of the table someone achieves 300 points, one additional hand will take place.  If in this second hand ANOTHER player gets of 300, BOTH go through to the final.  If at the end of this second hand the winner from the first game is the only one with 300 points, they go through to the final.

The Final

The finalists from each table will play off in a final.

This will be a single hand, with the person finishing with no cards the overall winner, and points deciding the 2nd (lower) and 3rd (higher) place.  In the event of a tie lower places, a second game will be played to determine places 2 and 3.

Alternative Ruleset for 6 or less people

The game will be played in one table.  Scoring will turn into an alternate method where the points for cards as above still apply, but people own their scores.  In this version, people who get to 300 points are eliminated, until 3 players are left; they then play off in a final game as per the main rules.  In the event of multiple players reaching 300 reducing the number below three, the leaderboard of scores comes into effect, and the highest 3 go through.  In the event of a draw, a play off between those players will happen to decide the 3rd place.
